Although I am having a girl I really did not want to go for a pink nursery, I'm just really not that overly fond of the colour! Even though I am happy to be having a girl I am certainly not looking forward to the every must be pink stage! When I have been baby clothes shopping I have cooed over the little pink dresses but could not see my nursery being pink.

I have searched for a wide for some wall paper that could be perfect for a little girls nursery! No Joke! I spent two hours in B&Q and then another hour in Homebase, Ian looked like he was on the verge of killing me if I did not make a decision soon! I found it really difficult to decide, all the nursery wallpaper I had seen just did not match with the shabby chic idea I had in my head for the nursery. We finally had one last attempt in our local Dunelm store and I found a lovely vintage style, duck egg blue wallpaper. Whilst I have been off work for the summer my mum came around and we have decorated the nursery. I have used the wallpaper on a feature wall and it looks lovely! Not pink, but nice and girl!

As well as the wallpaper I have also purchased my nursery furniture from IKEA. Finding what we needed in our local IKEA was so simple and quick. It all arrived quickly and my brother set to work putting it all together. I have gone from two of the wardrobes, the changing table and cot. The quality of the furniture is really good and I was surprised at how little it all cost. Searching in other stores the nursery sets we had wanted had been close to £1000 or more!

All I have to buy now is a nursing chair, light shade, the cute little duck egg pouffe, curtains and some decorations. The nursery is coming together really well and I can't wait to do a nursery tour once it is all done!

  1. Duck egg blue is lovely!

I went with the IKEA STUVA wardrobe too, it's the perfect size for the space we have. I really wanted the cot but my mother in law has bought is White Company bedding for a cotbed, so it won't fit in the IKEA one. I'm a little bit gutted!

I can't wait to see your nursery tour.
